Profile

I have worked in the IT industry for just over 10 years and in that time I have built up experience in some of the core data analysis tools, such as SQL and Excel, so pursuing a new role in the world of data analysis feels like a natural progression at this stage of my career. I believe my technical background and experience provides a good platform for me to bring value and insight to a new role working with data. I have a good eye for detail (recently honed on a data cleanup project as preparation for a data migration) and have previously used my technical skills to improve processes and efficiency (for example using Excel knowledge to work with client data more efficiently resulting in SLAs being met quicker and easier).

I am a strong believer in self-improvement through learning new tools and techniques to improve workflows. In 2024 I completed the Google Data Analysis Certificate via self-study. Part of my interest in the world of data analsis comes from the variety of tools available with which to process, analyse and share data and the ways they can be combined for maximum effect. I am always looking to improve my proficiency with SQL and Excel and have recently been working on expanding my "toolkit" by exploring Power Bi, Power Pivot and using Visual Basic to program Excel.

As well as development through learning I have some up-coming data related projects that I am working on to add to my portfolio using the new tools and skills I am learning, such as a dashboard for the football statistics app I am developing and some analysis projects such as a summary of payments to UK parliament members that requires open source intelligence research to flesh out and corroborate the data in the dataset.
